Meet Nesya Daniels (she/her), an attachment and trauma therapist for adults in New York.
As a psychotherapist in New York, my values guide me in providing the best possible support to my clients. These principles ensure that I stay grounded, aligned with ethical best practices, and continually grow in my ability to help others heal.
I believe healing from relational wounds happens in relationship. Everyone deserves unconditional positive support to learn and grow, and as your trauma therapist, I’m here to provide that container for you. My approach is down-to-earth, warm, and reflective.
MY GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Humility
I approach therapy as a partnership where we work together as equals. I believe that every client brings their own unique experiences and wisdom to the process. My role is not to impose my perspective, but to collaborate with you on your healing journey, respecting the differences in your values, lifestyle, and choices.
Authenticity
I don't hide behind a "therapist front." I bring my true self into the room, creating a space where you can feel safe to do the same. By being genuine and using my real personality, I aim to make therapy feel less clinical and more like a meaningful, human connection.
Integrity
I uphold the highest ethical and legal standards in my practice. Your safety, confidentiality, and well-being are always my top priorities. With me, you receive care that is both ethical and effective.
Empathy
Genuine compassion is at the heart of my practice. When I show empathy, it’s not a mask I put on; it’s a sincere expression of my care for you. I strive to understand and validate your experiences, creating an environment where you feel truly heard and supported.
Openness
I embrace diversity and am open to people’s different lifestyles, cultures, and identities. I enjoy the variety that comes with working with individuals from various backgrounds, and I’m committed to creating a nonjudgmental space where all are welcome.
Service
Being a therapist is not just a job for me; it’s a way to contribute positively to the world. I see my work as an opportunity to give back and help make the world a better place, one session at a time.
Growth
I am committed to continuous learning and improvement. Just because I’m licensed doesn’t mean my education is complete. I actively seek out new training, research, and clinical skills to bring fresh insights and approaches to my clients.
Competency
I am well-educated in trauma and attachment issues so I can hold all of your humanity with care and support. And because I stay updated on the latest research and practices, you can trust that our work together is grounded in methods that work.
Reliability
I believe in being there for my clients. Whether it’s responding promptly to your messages, being on time for our sessions, or providing consistent support, you can count on me to be a dependable and engaged part of your healing process.
Your story is unique, and your healing should be too. I combine structured techniques like DBT and attachment-based therapy with warmth, authenticity, and curiosity—guiding you toward deeper self-understanding and lasting change.
My Methods
My overall therapy style is rooted in a person-centered approach. This means I hold unconditional positive regard for you always, no matter how you show up or what you’re experiencing. I won’t try to change you during our time together. Instead, I’ll accept you as you are and help encourage you to do the same.
I’m trained in a variety of methods that allows me to best align with your needs during any given therapy session. These include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Attachment-Focused Therapy.
DBT: Designed for people who experience intense emotions, DBT helps you become more aware of their coping patterns and daily habits. It also teaches you core skills to come back to when you’re struggling. I’ll help guide you through ways to improve mindfulness, let go of judgment, develop distress tolerance, learn about emotions, and better communicate your feelings and needs.
Attachment-Based Therapy: Our early experiences with attachment figures shape the perceptions and actions we develop in adult relationships. Together, we will work toward positive change by understanding these early experiences and promoting healthier patterns of communication, perception, and emotion regulation.
Education and Licensure
I’m committed to ongoing education & training to best support you.
